Ford recently announced that they will donating vehicles across America to disabled military veterans. Pairing with the Disabled American Veterans charity, Ford is proud to be bringing eight more vehicles to the DAV Transportation Network, boosting the total up to 207 vehicles donated to the DAV over the last 20 years.

For nearly 100 years, the Ford Motor Company and the DAV have been working together, all the way back to Ford providing Model T vehicles for members of the DAV. Ford also invests money into scholarships and a Winter Sports Clinic associated with the DAV, in addition to programs that help veterans and their families find careers after the military.

Since 1974, Ford and Ford Fund have donated almost $10 million to a variety of veteran organizations, not to mention the over 6,000 veterans that Ford employs. The Ford Motor Company aids over 700,000 disabled veterans over the course of every year by helping them access health care. That alone though wasn’t enough to satisfy the thirst Ford has to help our veterans.

We know how much our veterans have given to allow us to live in this great nation, especially the disabled veterans who have given almost everything for us to lead the lives we live. This is why Ford decided to donated eight Ford Flex utility vehicles to the DAV, in an effort to provide more mobility to our disabled veterans.

“These heroic men and women are a powerful inspiration for Americans of all ages,” stated Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “We salute their courage and perseverance, and we’re proud to help them overcome mobility challenges with vehicles and rides that could improve the quality of their lives.”

“We are extremely proud and grateful of our long partnership with Ford Motor Company,” added Moses A. McIntosh Jr, national commander, DAV. “These vehicles will be used by volunteers nationwide to ensure our wounded heroes get to and from medical appointments. Without this donation and program, many of these veterans would go without the medical care they earned.
